I am very excited about Kindergarten this year! We are going to have fun learning and exploring together. Last year we piloted using 1:1 iPads in all the Kindergarten classrooms. We were amazed at what students were able to do on the iPads. The students used iPads to support the curriculum in reading, writing, math, art and social studies. The students surprised us when they demonstrated a remarkable ability to assume responsibility for their learning and showed a higher level of self confidence, writing, creativity and critical thinking skills. These skills carried over into all aspects of their learning.
This year we will build on our technology-enhanced program by focusing on meaningful projects and partnerships with older students. We will be taking our learning outside the classroom by studying in the garden and the Napa River in our own backyard. We hope to share ideas with students around the world and learn about ways we can work together to make the world a better place.
